PURPOSE
Terrorism and global security problems stand as crucial phenomenon each country faces on both national and international scales. Understanding and developing counter tactics against crimes threatening national and international security such as terrorism calls for alternative ways emanating from solid scientific studies. It is apparent that we need many scholarly and trustworthy platforms to study these types of crimes. It is projected that this journal will fulfill this mission of learning from others while sharing one’s accumulated experience.
With this journal it is aimed to develop effective alternative perspectives through the combination of experiences of professionals from the field and perspectives of experts and academicians on both national and international scales. In addition, this journal will promote and generalize good practices in the areas of security and counter terrorism. Therefore its contributions to its focus areas will be crucial and its role in the information sharing activities will be priceless.
TARGET GROUPS
The journals main target groups are presented below:
a) Academicians: This group will benefit from our journal by utilizing it as a platform not only to find developing face of the terrorism and global security, but also use the journal as a means to share their perspectives and get in contact with other interested individuals all around the world.
b) Executives and politicians: They will find opportunities to see and evaluate the effectiveness of the policies of others and make necessary amendments to their existing policies if necessary. This journal will include also structural, judicial, social, psychological economical, executive, political and other policies against global security and terrorism threats on national and international levels.
c) Practitioners: This journal will supply both theoretical and practical support to law enforcement and anti-terrorism experts by providing alternative ways in their regular activities. Also, practitioners will have the invaluable opportunity to acquaint themselves with others’ good practices and therefore they will be guided to enhance the quality of their work.
SELECTION OF ARTICLES FOR PUBLICATION
An initial technical and general evaluation of the manuscripts will be conducted by the editors. Should a manuscript pass this phase it is sent to referees; if not, it is sent back to the author(s) with evaluation notes of the editors.
The ones passed are sent to two referees and if both of them approve the quality and originality of the manuscript and suggest its publication then these manuscripts are published in the journal. If the referees cannot reach a consensus, then the manuscripts will be sent to a third referee. Normally, the evaluation results are conveyed to the author(s) in 90 days. However if the manuscript is sent to a third referee then it might take up to 120 days.
The revision suggestions are conveyed to author(s) as soon as possible and time extensions are made for the author(s) to be able to correct the manuscript.
GUIDELINES AND RULES
- Only manuscripts that were not sent to other journals for publication and not published elsewhere are accepted for consideration. The responsibility of the content of manuscripts belongs to the writer(s).
- Only English or Turkish manuscripts are accepted for consideration.
- If the manuscript is in English;
- An English abstract of no more than 150 words and 2-10 English keywords are required to be placed in front of the manuscript (excluding book reviews),
- Additionally, a Turkish abstract of no more than 150 words and 2-10 Turkish keywords are expected to be at the end of the manuscript (excluding book reviews),
- If the manuscript is in Turkish;
- A Turkish abstract of no more than 150 words and 2-10 Turkish keywords are required to be placed in front of the manuscript (excluding book reviews),
- Additionally, an English abstract of no more than 150 words and 2-10 English keywords are expected to be at the end of the manuscript (excluding book reviews),
- All manuscripts are required to be;
- In Word 97-2003 or any other compatible software,
- 12 Times New Roman,
- Double spaced,
- 1 inch margins on all sides,
- And also articles are required to be between 4,000 and 10,000 words, and book reviews should not exceed 2500 words. If any manuscript exceeds these limits, a request to shorten them might be made by the editors.
- Manuscripts that are sent via emails or on CDs should definitely include information about the author(s). These information might include but not limited to names, titles, affiliated institutions, physical addresses, telephone and fax numbers, email addresses and web addresses.
- It is preferred that each manuscript has a short title. If the title is long, the authors are required to include an abridged title consisting of no more than 10 words.
- Each title and subtitle in the manuscripts should be bold and in the same character as the body.
- Citations, references, tables, figures, etc. should be following APA style. For more information about APA style please visit the following webpage: http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/01/.
- If the author(s) wish(es) to include extra information on anything that is not directly related the topic in hand, they are encouraged to include them as footnotes.
- Each manuscript is required to include a separate references section following APA style. Items in reference section need to be in alphabetical order.
- In Turkish manuscripts the authors are supposed to follow Turkish Language Institution’s grammar guidelines (Türk Dil Kurumu İmla Kılavuzu) and also all English and Turkish manuscripts are required to follow this journal’s guidelines.
- For book reviews all relevant information available about a book must be included:
e.g.: İhsan BAL and Süleyman ÖZEREN, 2009, Uzakdoğudan Yeni Kıtaya Terörle Mücadele, (Karınca Publishing, Ankara, Turkey) ISBN: 978-605-4030-12-5, Price TL or US Dollars.
